Biography and film career


She holds a degree in Film Directing with honors in Screenwriting and a Master’s degree in Documentary Filmmaking.


During her early university years, she quickly stood out by winning screenwriting competitions with her original ideas. At just 19, she directed her first 16mm short film, Strange Entrails (2013, fiction), followed a year later by My Dad's Dead, Everybody Dies (2014, fiction).


A restless spirit across all forms of art, she began exploring creative expression as a teenager. At 14, she was the lead singer of the punk band Leftovers of Discontent, wrote scripts for plays, and edited and wrote for Godzila Fanzine. In her final year of school, she received the Arts and Humanities Prize for her generation.


In 2013, during her second year of university, she began working at the Cinematheque of the University of Chile. She also taught at the Film School of Chile, the University of Chile, and the University of Humanistic Studies.


In 2015, she directed the short film Avenger of the Future, which received an Honorable Mention at the Final Girls Women's Film Festival and was officially selected for Cinema & Territory, Fantasporto, and Fixion Fest.




In 2016, she directed the short films Daydreaming and Spying, both of which became part of the heritage film collection of the Cinematheque of the University of Chile.


That same year, she also launched her prolific career as a music video director with Triztán by Lia Nadja, a work that was selected for various film festivals and showcases around the world.


Passionate about education, she created the analog film workshop VideoGram, offering classes in Valdivia as part of the Valdivia International Film Festival, in Concepción during the All the Theory of the World Media Arts Festival, in Valparaíso for the Error Process Film Festival, and in Santiago.


Also in 2016, she founded Video Party, a groundbreaking multidisciplinary event centered around cinema, which brought together film screenings, art exhibitions, a textile art catwalk, an art fair, and live music, pioneering a new format for artistic gatherings.




In 2017, she was selected for the Vortex music video residency at the experimental film festival Error Process, where she created the video Pale Arms for the band Armisticio. A few months later, she was also selected for the Re-flow film post-production residency organized by the production company Kiné Imágenes.


That same year, retrospectives of her work were held at the cinema of Matucana 100 Cultural Centre in Santiago and at Barrios Bajos Art Gallery in Valdivia.


In 2018, she directed the music videos Element by Lia Nadja and The Diver by Patio Solar. She also began filming her first feature-length documentary, Treasures.






In 2019, she directed her first feature film, The Seven Mirrors, and was invited to participate in the collaborative film project Fragmentum Cinema: Dreams, where she directed Dimension of Mirrors, a piece composed of previously unreleased scenes from The Seven Mirrors. This work toured internationally, with screenings at Massapê Projetos (Brazil), ULTRAcinema (Mexico), Bogotá Experimental Film Festival (Colombia), Process of Error Experimental Film Festival (Chile), among others.


That same year, she directed the fashion film Reflex and created a series of documentaries capturing the social upheaval in Chile, including Chile Is Not Alone, Hearts United by the Revolt, Chile Remains in the Streets, False Flag, and Reminiscences of a Revolution. These works were showcased at venues such as Anthology Film Archives, the Experimental Film Society of New York, the Valdivia International Film Festival, and several other festivals and cultural spaces around the world.






In 2020, she directed Amuleto, a short film that was screened at the VideoTitlán Film Festival in Mexico.


She also served as director and editor of Urgent Stories, a documentary series created by the NOA Collective, highlighting narratives led by women and focused on female-centered themes.


That year, she directed the fashion film Sublimação, the multimedia audiovisual project Portales, and the visual album Fantasía for artist Lia Nadja.


In 2021, she directed the music videos Flowers and Diamonds for Pasaje and Fuck Da Police for Violencia de Género, along with the fashion film Ouroboros, which premiered at Fashion Week Russia.


In 2022, she produced the interactive fashion film Fight Style in collaboration with the clothing brand Nikinky.


She also co-founded Portal Films, an international film production company based in Brazil, Canada, and Chile, specializing in the creation of cinematic content with a strong gender and LGBTQIA+ perspective.






In 2023, she is selected by the Berlinale of the berlin film festival as a Latin American film talent and is invited to the Buenos Aires Film Festival, where her work was screened and her film "The seven mirrors" was part of the festival's industry category and receives advice from professionals.


Also His short film "Mirrors dimension" was selected in the Porto femme film festival in Portugal.





In 2024, she premiered her feature documentary Treasures, which was selected for seven film festivals and invited for a special run in New York, where it was screened for a full month.

The film has also been shown in Mexico, the United States, Canada, Argentina, New Zealand, Brazil, Ecuador, and Chile, in prestigious venues including the National Cinematheque, located at the Government Palace.


Her feature fiction film The Seven Mirrors is currently in post-production and is set to have its international premiere in North America soon.


Her work as a director is featured in the book Chilean Filmmakers: Cinema Under Gender Inequality, alongside all the women who have contributed to Chilean cinema since the invention of cinematography. Additionally, her films are part of the multimedia book Ruins of the Future, published by Adynata Publications.


In 2025, Flavia is the director of the Films of the Future Festival and will also premiere her new feature film.
